HOLD ME CHAIR

Hold me chair

First: a shape inspired on a person. My father was my subject in this project. He had a terminal illness. The chair I designed is like him: glowing in the dark (even when the plug is not plugged in). There is a plug on the chair, because he always made little drawings of plugs for fun because he found them silly. It's also a bit like a devils tail. The chair has wings as well, they can embrace and comfort me when I miss him.

I used this personal concept as a sketch for a chair that would be suitable for mass production. I mainly focused on the 'embrace'. A 'light' chair from felt and aluminium which a surrounding shape, like it's arms are around you. There are two holes to put your hands in. Resting arm in arm.
